With our specialized substance use treatment, you can confront your negative thought patterns and behaviors that keep you in an endless cycle of unhealthy coping, relapses, loss of control and distress.

Is Alcohol or Substance Use Impeding Your Happiness and Restricting Growth?

Addiction is a serious issue often rooted in your own insecurities, anxieties, and fears. As the positive feelings of alcohol and drugs dwindle, you might be left with a trail of destroyed relationships, finances, and mental health. You might have lost your motivation or drive and sometimes feel hopeless.

You begin to feel like you’ve already wasted your life and start to feel hopeless that you’ll ever have a better, happier life. But you’re not only disappointed in yourself for life passing you by, but you’re constantly ashamed and worried about loved ones being disappointed in you and the way your life has been going.

Unfortunately, addiction can lie to you, telling you that everything’s still okay or that you can get sober on your own, but you might need addictions therapy if:

  • Your drug and alcohol use spiraling out of control

  • You sacrifice the things you actually enjoy for just one more drink or hit.

  • You’ve ever wondered, “If I could only stop, I could finally be happy.”

  • You’re hurting the people you love the most, but can’t seem to stop.

  • You need to drink or do drugs to sleep or get up in the morning.

  • Your negative thoughts are contributing to harmful addiction.

  • You’ve been spending too much money on your addiction.

  • You think if you could stop using substances your life would be better.

  • You have tried to get sober without success.

Whether it’s alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, or something else, addiction can impact every facet of your life. It can hinder productivity at work, impede important relationships, and interfere with your own health and well-being.

To put it simply, substance use has a profound effect on all facets of life. It’s not just a struggle with substances and behaviors, but a force that reaches careers, relationships, mental well-being and overall life satisfaction. You are looking for relief.

In substance abuse therapy, you can learn to find your life’s purpose that has since escaped you. You can regain control, rebuild your relationships, and rediscover a life free from the shackles of addiction. Your transformation begins HERE.

You’re Not Alone

While it might seem like it during active addiction, you’re far from alone. In fact, 46.3 million Americans over the age of 12 meet the criteria for substance use disorder.

To make matters worse, the stigma surrounding addiction has made it hard to seek help and an alarming 94% of those with substance use disorder don’t get the treatment they need. This is especially concerning due to the correlation between substance abuse and mental health issues like depression and anxiety.

Heart in sand

Furthermore, many people who struggle with substance use issues hide their addictions, which can make it seem less common than it really is. In short, addiction is incredibly common, but substance abuse treatment is proven to help.

With the experience of a passionate therapist who understands the challenges of alcohol and drug addiction, you can progress to a happier, healthier stage of your life, free from the substances that hold you back.

How Treatment Looks with Clear Minds Counseling

Together, we’ll work through the process step by step. That way, you’re never overwhelmed because the goal isn’t instant happiness and sobriety. Instead, the goal is to make gradual progress toward a healthier, happier, and more fulfilled version of you, one session at a time.

During our one-on-one sessions over video or in my office, we’ll identify negative thought patterns that are keeping you stuck in the cycle of addiction. These are the same invalid thought patterns that cause you distress and are the foundation of your addiction. Feelings of guilt and shame and low self-esteem are usually present when struggling with an substance use and if not dealt with, will perpetuate a cycle of self-destructive behavior.

When you learn to replace negative thought patterns and unhealthy beliefs about yourself and your addiction, we can start to change your behavior. In addition to helping you adopt healthier thoughts, I will help you learn new coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and healthy living behaviors so you never have to rely on a substance to feel good. You will begin to learn stress management techniques and some healthy lifestyle changes as well.

Several different interventions and modalities can be used to ensure the most effective approach, depending on how you respond to different techniques like talk therapy, writing exercises, guided imagery, grounding techniques, and art therapy. There are times that support groups or 12 step groups may be recommended in addition to counseling and this is recommended on an individual basis.

This approach to drug and alcohol counseling is interactive, educational, and has been effective over my 25 years as a therapist. Finally, no two people, no two addictions, and no two paths to recovery are the same. Because of that, I am committed to tailoring each step to your specific needs, concerns, goals, and unwanted behaviors.

Therapy Can Be For Everyone, Including You

Do you think therapy won’t work for you?

Remember that your addiction lies to you when it tells you that outpatient alcohol and drug treatment will never help you recover or that sobriety is impossible. The truth is that no matter how bad your addiction seems to you, it is possible to recover and find peace.

You may even think that you’ve already wasted so much of your life that recovery isn’t worth it, but that’s a fallacy. Every minute you spend sober, healthy, and happy is worthwhile, and substance use treatment can help you achieve true well-being.

Think you can do it on your own or that your not used to talking to anyone about your problems?

It’s common for people to feel uncomfortable speaking to someone about their personal issue and you might even be a private person. You may have even been able to control your substance use temporarily in the past.  I also know that living in a world of shame, secrecy and consequences can have an effect on you and I am here to listen when you are ready.

If you’re more concerned about time and money, I understand, which is why we can begin with a free consultation that way, you can see if we’re a good fit before ever attending any sessions.
